Chhattisgarh- The land of opportunities
Tribal dominated Chhattisgarh originated when 16 Chhattisgarhi-speaking southeastern districts of Madhya Pradesh were clubbed together to improve governance of the tribal region. This state, which lies at the heart of India, was carved out of India’s map on Nov 1, 2000. Chhattisgarh, the 10th largest state in India, mainly consists of tribal population and its capital is Raipur.

Chhattis stands for 36 while Garh means fort. It is said that the name is derived from the 36 princely states, which came under this region though this explanation is argued over and again by the experts.
